AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Gang
thanks for your response
we use -numout as you suggest to make sure the 1D files are the right length after wavering
the first question:
3dtcat concatenates data series in time to make one long "composite" run
for n runs, composite run length is n*old run length
1dcat, on the other hand, puts new columns in a file (for new stim types, eg), rather than append to a single column.
Everyone I know uses some other program (Xcel, word editor) to append their 1d files, ,via cut and paste to make them long enough for multiple runs, as is required. Given the multiple sophisticated operations 1dcat can perform, e.g. skipping everyother data point, etc, it seems puzzling if it (or something else) won't easily append to the same column to make an n*length file.
Would save some error-prone cut & paste...
am I missing it?
thanks much
Alison
