AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hello all

I'm writing with a question regarding the tranformation from volumetric to surface brains (AFNI-SUMA). Since we want to get MNI (or tlrc) coordinates for our ROIs we are looking up the max node in SUMA and by linking this viewer to the AFNI viewer we are using the 'where am i?' feature to obtain the coordinates for that node.

UNFORTUNATELY there is a consistant problem in doing this around the inferior frontal and temporal lobe areas. For example, locating the temporal pole in SUMA will usually make the alignment in AFNI to be somewhere near mid/inferior frontal. Not close at all, and this seems to happen for random nodes.

I guess my question has multiple parts:
1) Should this be a concern for the transformations we have already done from volumes onto the surface?
2) Is there another way to obtain the MNI or tlrc coordinates from the Nodes in SUMA?

--our data seems fine, accurate and consistant, so i'm not concerned about the data itself. just wondering how to overcome this obstacle to get coordinates!

Thanks again,
Jennine
