AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi

I recently got an ibook with OS X 10.4 installed. I was a bit excited that I can try AFNI on MAC OS X. I don't have much knowledge of Mac OS X and it took me more than one day to get X11, Fink, openmotif, glid etc installed. Thanks for Robert Cox's post which helped me run AFNI in my computer finally.

However, I still have two questions. 1)when I type afni under OS X terminal, it pops up message "Initializing: X11Error: Can't open display:". But I can run AFNI in the X11 terminal. Does AFNI have to run in the X11 terminal? In fact I was a bit confused with the difference between these two terminals.

2)while I managede to add ~/abin to the path under OS X terminal, I failed to do so under X11 terminal. Thus I have to type ./abin/afni to run AFNI under X11 terminal. I tried both "set path = ( $path ~/abin )" and "export PATH=$PATH:~/abin", and they did work. How can I add ~/abin(where AFNI commands were stored) to the path if I have to use X11 terminal?

Thanks a lot for any help
