AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi,

It AFNI Howto 2 and 5, multiple runs are concatenated while in Howto 1, they are averaged.
Yet another option when we have multiple runs is to do 3dDeconvolve run by run.

Is there a general rule as to when each of the above methods should be used?
My opinion is that when you concatenate or take average, you get more reliable coefficients from level I analysis, at the cost of losing (n-1) observations if you have n runs.
In other words, the issue is whether to have less but cleaner observations or to have more but noisier observations.
Am I right?

Thanks,
George
