When looking at a contrast between two variables within a group (2-way ANOVA), and there is both positive and negative activation, how does one intrepret the results? For instance, can one assume, when setting the intensity scale at '12,' that the red activation clusters are representative of the dominant variable and that the blue activation clusters are representative of the other variable?

How does AFNI treat positive vs. negative beta values in a contrast?
