I was just about to write back about how this still doesn't work even after removing the '*'s.

Hmmm, is there an efficient way (in AFNI or otherwise) to split say a 10x48 1D matrix into 48 individual 10x1 1D files? Otherwise I'm having to manually create 48 individual 1D files for all my 48 stimulus covariates.
