I'd like to second Craig's request. I see Bob's point about what level of detail is essential. In terms of granularity, pebble size would be fine. In the 3dpc example, knowing a minor feature was added, unless specific for some dataset or project, would be interesting to know. I might even try it out when I wouldn't necessarily use principal components analysis.
I'm guessing for many, that level of detail may not be that informative, and that post will just pass by. A small number may find it critical. It is not that we can't usually find information about updates, etc., but as the site expands things are popping up in different places, such as the HOW-TO, teaching section, help, manuals, personal pages, discussion board. The blog would be the news office alerting us that there is new information and where we can find it. I could imaging that the blog and discussion board would become somewhat interactive as people would ask what a new feature would do, how best to apply, etc. Of course, I realize that it just means more work for all of you with an unclear benefit. But Craig and I would send notes of thanks.
