AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Everybody,

I noticed a strange inconsistency with the Data Axes Tilt information in 3dinfo. When I overlay my functional scans on top of my anatomical, the two are pretty clearly out of alignment. But when I do 3dinfo on each of them, they both say that the Data Axes Tilt is "Oblique (0.728 deg. from plumb)." Then I run 3dWarp -card2oblique (as described here: [afni.nimh.nih.gov]) on the anatomical, and the alignment between the anatomical and the functionals is perfect. But then the Data Axes Tilt on the anatomical is listed a "Plumb."

So it appears that 3dinfo doesn't know that the anatomical was originally in acquired in the cardinal plane. I would expect that the Data Axes Tilt would initially be listed as Plumb for the anatomical, then would change to "Oblique (0.728 deg. from plumb)" once I ran 3dWarp -card2oblique.

I just want to make sure that this is a 3dinfo problem and not a problem with my understanding of the orientation that each of my scans are in. As long as they are in the same orientation, and appear to be well-aligned, then it doesn't matter what 3dinfo says, right?

-Joe
