AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Ziad,

(pardon if this is reposted, my first reply seemed to have disappeared from the board...)

with your suggested change, the compilation completes with seemingly no error. Afni starts just fine, but when I try to run the FreeSurfer SUMA demo, using the following command:

suma -spec ../SurfData/SUMA/DemoSubj_lh.spec -sv DemoSubj_SurfVol_Alnd_Exp+orig

I get a crash, with the error messages:

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvSurface #1/4(Local Domain Parent), loading ...
-- Error SUMA_Load_Surface_Object_eng (SUMA_Load_Surface_Object.c:1111):
newcode pointer must be null
** Critical SUMA_Load_Surface_Object_eng (SUMA_Load_Surface_Object.c:1277):

Proceed I will not.

Fatal Signal 11 (SIGSEGV) received

** AFNI version = AFNI_2008_07_18_1710 Compile date = Jan 9 2009
** [[Precompiled binary 1: Jan 9 2009]]
** Program Abort **
** If you report this crash to the AFNI message board,
** please copy the error messages EXACTLY, and give
** the command line you used to run the program, and
** any other information needed to repeat the problem.
** You may later be asked to upload data to help debug.

If however I omit the "-sv ..." part of the command, the SUMA interface with a brain surface displays fine and the controls seem to work.

Any suggestions for the next steps?

thanks again for your help and happy new year
