We've seen this error before with improperly built versions of OpenMotif's libXm.a as in this old thread:

[afni.nimh.nih.gov]

Try with a source distribution of OpenMotif and build it yourself, as we have been doing recently, or with the fink version of OpenMotif. I've been using the 64-bit Leopard version recently without problem this way. Let us know if you are still having problems.
