Those figures from that paper were made with surface models and the group activation map mapped to the surface using FreeSurfer and SUMA. Surfaces can be made with FreeSurfer and displayed with activation maps with SUMA. See [
afni.nimh.nih.gov] for information on how to do this. The creation of the surfaces is a slow process though. You may consider just displaying some sample slices at the individual or group level for those beta values for individual finger pre and post with appropriate thresholding.
