Thanks so much Brian! That seemed to do the trick. The processes seemed to run for about an hour total, but AFNI seems to start OK.
I was concerned that when I first installed and updated fink, something happened to my X11 files. When I tried to start X after first installing fink, xterm wouldn't open.
Later, I installed AFNI and the sample files on my MacBook Pro, WITHOUT doing the preinstall of fink, and I have been able to start AFNI and look at images OK so far.
Is fink absolutely necessary and should I still install fink on my MacBook Pro?
Many thanks in advance!
John
