The messages you are getting are of mixed source. Some are afni's and some a re suma's. Also, note that warnings and notices are not errors and you need not worry about them in this case.
One way to separate error sources would be to run AFNI and SUMA from different terminals.

tells you that surfaces smoothwm and pial will be used by the vol2surf plugin for mapping data onto the surface.
What does ls *tlrc.HEAD return in the afni directory?
