OK so I think I may have gotten somewhere.

Using the same surface volume for 3dSurf2Vol and 3dVol2Surf did the trick, as long as I loaded the same surface volume when viewing it in suma.

There doesn't seem to be an issue with viewing the original suma surface (-spec) spec file and the standardized surface as the surface volume (-sv) in suma....but i wanted to check and make sure this is all ok.
Because it LOOKS ok. --I'm pretty sure I understand how it would be ok, but i want to check--

: )

the roi is in the right place and it all seems aligned and giving us what we want.

please tell me if this isn't correct--i'm not going to get excited yet!

I cannot thank you enough for your help.
