AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Gang-

Thanks for the quick response. In this case, I think the t score corresponding to the beta would be converted to a z, and then these values would be used in a 2-factor mixed effects ANOVA. I am inclined to use the approach advocated on your site, which is to do the ANOVA on percent signal change. However, I would like to have a good reason rather than "that's the way AFNI says to do it" for choosing one over the other. As I said, I have seen it done the other way, and I can think of some reasons why the t (or z) approach seems wrong (maybe it does not provide an accurate estimate of error related to individual subject differences?), but I would like to defer to the statistical experts for a second opinion.
