There are some threads that suggest the standard Intel driver
has serious issues, particularly with 3D accelarated graphics.
First, make sure that you have updated your packages via yum.
I'm sure there have been many updates to the Intel X.org driver.

So in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, you might add this line to the "Monitor"
secion:
